Back To Memphis

I’m coming back to Memphis in less than three weeks and I’m actually really excited about it.

Things I’m excited about:

Things I’m iffy about:

  • Missing my fiance for 6 months
  • Learning the bus system and riding the bus to work daily/being carless
  • Time management: planning a wedding while working and trying to be healthy

So there are a few things that will be challenging. But the major awesome things on the first list outweigh them by far. I’m getting more and more excited about coming back to Memphis. Or maybe it’s just being back in the US. I’m already starting to make my list of things I need/want to buy to bring back to New Zealand when I leave again. I can’t wait! :)

NZ

As much as I love Tennessee, it can’t give me this:

Even on a bad day, New Zealand is gorgeous. This photo is not edited in any way… it’s just really vibrant here. Brilliant on a perfect sunny summer day. Today was neither but it was still amazing.

Historically Hardcore

This student ad campaign from artist Jenny Burrows and copywriter Matt Kappler is so spot on. Really well done and engaging for the exact people that museums should be trying to engage: young people. It’s really disappointing that the Smithsonian decided to ask them to take their name off (read about the switch from the logo to “museums” here) and completely distance themselves from the project instead of embracing it. Stuff like this would actually get people interested in history because it’s funny, it’s relevant, it’s awesome.

History is awesome. Great project guys!
